Day
1 – SALTA
Flight from Buenos Aires to Salta. Transfer to the Hotel.
Visit to this city in the Argentinean northwest where
colonial architecture building remains along with the
20th century modern style. Cathedral, San Francisco
Church, Carmelites convent, Saint Bernard hill, residential
neighborhoods, and San Lorenzo Summer Village.
Day 2 – CALCHAQUIES VALLEYS
Breakfast and trip to the Calchaquies Valleys, beginning
at Lerma Valley and heading south, going trough typical
towns like Cerrillos, el Carril, Coronel Moldes, continuing
the Rio de las Conchas canyon where among thousands
of years of wind and water erosion the mountains have
been carved in funny shapes (the Castle, the monk, the
amphitheater, etc). Later, we’ll cross the sand
dunes arriving to Cafayate for lunchtime. Visit to the
city and one of its most famous wineries. By the afternoon,
return through the Calchaqui valleys on National Road
Nº 40, going through the colonial villages of San
Carlos, Molinos. Lodging.
Day 3 - CACHI /
SALTA
Breakfast and departure heading north up to Cachi, settled
at the foot of Cachi Mountain (6420 Mt ). Visit to the
church and the Archaeological Museum. Then going through
the Los Cardones National Park, and Piedra del Molino,
the highest spot of the excursion (3448 Mt above sea
level). We’ll descend then through the imponent
Cuesta del Obispo and the Quebrada de Escoipe, reaching
the Lerma Valley. Lodging at Salta.
Day 4 – TRAIN
TO THE CLOUDS
Breakfast and transfer to Railway station to take the
full day tour on the worldwide famous train reaching
La Polvorilla bridge at 4.220 m high (San Antonio de
los Cobres) Departure from Salta at 07:00. Return by
22:00
Day 5 – QUEBRADA DE HUMAHUACA
Breakfast, And full day tour through the Humahuaca Canyon
(Quebrada de Humahuaca), where wonderful landscapes
of multi-colored skies blend with the colonization and
independence history of our country. Visit to Purmamarca
at the base of the well known "Seven Colours Hill".
Then Tilcara and its imponent Pucara (Indians fortress).
After that, we’ll cross the Capricorn Tropic and
the Huacalera and Uquia villages. Arrival to Humahuaca,
visit to the city, the cathedral, the Torre de Santa
Barbara, Independence monument, etc. Spare time for
lunch. On our way back, we’ll stop at the Paleta
del Pintor mount (Paintor’s palette) at Maimara
and then we’ll go to San Salvador de Jujuy. Short
visit to the city, seeing the most important spots:
Main Square, Cathedral, Flag Parlor at the Government
House, etc. Return to Salta. Lodging.
Day 6 - SALTA /
BUENOS AIRES
Breakfast and transfer to the airport to take the flight
back to Buenos Aires.
NOTE: If the Train to the Clouds does not operate or
in case tourists prefer to go on this excursión
by land we offer to do it on days 4 and 5 lodging 1
night in Tilcara ( Quebrada de Humahuaca)
